Arthur: His life and Reign

Arthur was raised by Sir Ector by Merlin's command. After Arthur's true father's death, there was no king to rule. So Merlin placed a sword in the stone and claimed that any man who could draw the sword would be deemed king. Arthur did so and Merlin crowned him King. He married Guinevere, whose father gave Arthur the Round Table as a dowry. Arthur soon made this table where his Knights would sit as equal.

The end

Lancelot, Arthur's most illustrious knight became in love with Guinevere. Arthur got a little distracted with the Quest for the Holy Grail; therefore, didn't see what was going on right in front of him. When they were found out, Lancelot saved Guinevere from being put to death. Arthur made war on his former Knight and while he was away, Mordred (his nephew and some say illegetimate son) began to take over as if he were king himself. When Arthur got word of this, he came back and battled his last battle. He killed Mordred, but he was gravely wounded. He was carried off on a barge to Avalon and some say that he will return once again.

And from this began various tales of Arthurian romances and legends. Also famous stories of his Knights came to be, such as Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
